Up Date

Had a good weekend at the Mortimer Classic MX couple weeks ago .
Team race on the Saturday was Fantastic Fun .
Our team Consisted of Steve Gard , Nick Morris, Archie Morris & Myself .
each rider out for 15 mins then in for a (Not so) Quick change over of the numbered Bibs & off ( should ) go the next rider . The start Was a le-mans type start ( me first) drop of flag then off jumped onto my trusty triumph quick kick (fired first time) & off . 2nd in to first bend & pushing hard had a problem selecting 3rd gear but just worked round it by flat out in 2nd then up into top. Stayed in 2nd till lap 3 then a mistake from me ( yes it does happen) to quick on the throttle & spun it round & down . back up & pushing hard again finished my first stint in 7th .then it all went a bit Pete Tong as they say .Archie out next but droped his bultaco on the line ? then didit again( found out later front brake lining had come off so jamed the wheel) so swopped bikes with his dad ( Nick) so out he goes on the 440 victor only to stall it mid race & lose couple laps trying to start it ( Needs a Big boot!). next out is steve on his 500jawa powered machine & has a very good ride with no mistakes .Then Nick does the same on the victor good ride picking up a few places. Next me having a good ride but still no 3rd gear . next Archie out on the victor but luck not on his side the gear leaver 's lose on the shaft so can't select any gears . Nick quickly swaps bibs & jumps onto steves Jawa . At the end of Nicks ride steve is out on the jawa aswell.
after steves ride Archie has has tw0 bikes fail steves Jawa is a bit big & min has no 3rd we decide best if i ride mine for the last leg . half way threw my leg i decide to back off a little bit & save my engine & make sure we finish .
No idea on the results but grate fun.
As i came in on the last leg the sidecars were on there way down for pratice so drop the bike at my van back to the start line jump on the side & off i go again.
I passenger for a longtime family friend John Budgen on a 850cc norton wasp.
practice we have a half hr rest untill we start our 40min sidecar race.
well fantastic start & finish 8th . now i must i that was one hard days work .
sunday only sidecars for me but how wet was that rain most of the night &most of the day .
they only ran the first block ( solo & sidecar)of races then had an allcomers race & sidecar final that was enough . so then home for an early bath .
hope to be out for a trail ride sometime over the next couple weeks hopefully with Mike on the bmw .

Red Kite Rally 07

The Red Kite Rally.

Run by the WRTA held at the Eppynt ranges in wales on easter sunday.

My self (lee) riding my old trusty ktm now fitted with a 620 topend

Steve Gard on his 2007 580ishcc triumph throphy ( Well about 1972) having just had more mods , we had aready fitted 650 pistons but now i have raised compression ( 2mm skim off barrels & another 1mm off head . Also drilled out fins on the barrels & barrels alone are now 3lbs lighter . I have also fitted Maico wheels front & rear so it can now stop ! See pic very dusty & fast

Then also in the team was Nick Morris on a 404CCM Who sufferd a punture on the first lap

Mike also came along to see what it was all about & did a fantastic job at the refueling area .Next rally mike & big bmw will be riding ( Ryedale Rally in Yorkshire in July)

This Rally consisted of 3 laps around a 35mile course with 2 timed stages both about 41/2 miles long , first lap is untimed . Stage 1&3 was very fast(& Dusty) mostly open moorland & gravel Tracks ,Stage 2&4 Started up hill then back down on rutty track onto open twisty fire roads( lose Gravel) then onto the tank testing ground with very deep puddles ( some did have routes around ) but again a very fast stage . both stages i had my bike flat out in top at more than one time .

Steve finished 29th ,Nick 20th& myself 3rd overall . We also won the best team award.

So all in all a very good day & good finishes allround
